Workplaces
safety and success
Overview
A safe workplace allows employees to thrive and companies to succeed. Alteristic partners with businesses, corporations, and other organizations to prevent workplace bullying, harassment, and other forms of interpersonal violence or aggression. We develop programs using a bystander framework, consult on strategic planning and capacity building, and provide workshops in-person and virtually. All of our programs are designed to equip employees with the knowledge, skills and motivation needed to: (1) respond when they notice high-risk behaviors, and (2) contribute to the success of co-workers and the organization.

Bystander Intervention Training
The goal of the Bystander Intervention Training is to provide participants the skills they need to ensure employees are able to achieve success in their work. The training uses a bystander framework to (1) equip supervisors and management with the tools to set clear expectations for professional and productive workplace behavior and, (2) ensure all employees are able to make a positive impact on their workplaces.
Training options include face-to-face workshops, virtual workshops, and a Train the Trainer. Each training is tailored to the unique context of each industry and client. Every training also includes Booster Activities and Evaluation Surveys.
Evaluation and Booster Activities
Booster activities provide opportunities to strengthen bystander intervention skills learned in workshops. Examples of activities include (1) social marketing materials such as posters and banners, (2) short activities that can be at the start of meetings, or (3) talking points or conversation starters that can be used by supervisors.
Evaluation surveys can be given before or after a training and focus groups can be conducted to get more details about what is being gained by the training from the employee perspective. The results can provide information about participant satisfaction, the knowledge and skills they gained, how confident they feel about doing their part, and their intentions to apply the bystander skills they learned.

Spotlight: Bangor Savings Banks
After conducting key informant interviews with a cross-section of employees, Alteristic tailored the Green Dot Prevention Strategy to address workplace harassment and bullying across all Bangor Bank branches in Maine and New Hampshire (over 50 locations). Alteristic conducted a four-day implementer training for branch representatives on how to implement an effective prevention strategy in their bank or region and reduce workplace harassment and bullying company wide.
Spotlight: Alcohol Industry
Alteristic partnered with the United States Bartenders’ Guild, Brown-Forman, as well as other partner brands like Chambord, Campari and other distributors on implementing a targeted approach to train bartenders and other members of the alcohol industry in prevention. Alteristic provided 3-hour bystander workshops around the United States, mobilizing participants to play a key role in stopping sexual assault and other forms of violence in their bars.
