Social Marketing Campaigns

Social Marketing Campaigns are designed to reinforce and strengthen prevention-related skills. Providing multiple doses of key content helps ensure new behaviors are sustained long enough to become new norms, which can ultimately transform a campus culture.

CAMPAIGNS

As part of the Green Dot Strategy implementation, institutions launch two social marketing campaigns annually that are provided at the Coordinating Team training. Each campaign is organized around a theme targeting a topic or behavior learned in the Green Dot workshops. The theme is integrated into both components of the campaign, (1) passive media and, (2) booster activities.

PASSIVE MEDIA

Passive media provides a visible reminder of the campus commitment to sustaining a healthy culture and reinforces key content without requiring interaction. Our Social Marketing Campaigns include a poster series that is selected by each team and social media messaging to highlight core prevention-related messages. In addition, colleges can utilize passive media formats available on their campuses such as campus radio or newspapers, websites, bulletin boards, or pens, lanyards, water bottles, etc.

BOOSTER ACTIVITIES

Booster activities provide applied skill-building opportunities that reinforce the prevention theme highlighted in the passive media component. Activities are scalable, allowing institutions to select those that can be realistically supported by their available resources. While some booster activities require attending an event or session, most are created to be integrated into the daily routines of students and employees, requiring minimal time to participate.

Bring the Green Dot Prevention
Strategy to your Campus

The Green Dot for College Implementation Training certifies instructors and coordinators to implement Green Dot on their campus. The two-part training consists of (1) Coordinating Team Training, and (2) Instructor Training. Interested colleges can receive the training by hosting a College-Specific Training or sending a team to a Green Dot Institute. Building core knowledge and skills of a team maximizes positive outcomes.

COLLEGE-SPECIFIC TRAINING (CST)

CSTs can be a cost-effective option for colleges certifying large teams. The half-day, virtual Coordinating Team Training is comprised of multiple colleges, creating opportunities to exchange ideas and form ongoing networks of support. The two-day Instructor Training (virtual or in-person) is college-specific, allowing for a tailored experience. Supplemental courses, focused on prevention capacity building, can be added to CSTs.

GREEN DOT INSTITUTES (GDI)

The Instructor Training component of the Green Dot Strategy is provided at GDIs and can be ideal for smaller teams or adding instructors to existing teams. The two-day training is offered on a rolling basis and open to any campus. The half-day Coordinating Team Training (virtual) is completed two weeks before the GDI. Individual colleges can schedule supplemental courses focused on prevention capacity building before or after a GDI.
